Wedding Trends 2020
As we move closer to the beginning of a new year, it is exciting to discover the trends emerging around wedding planning and styling in 2020. We delve into those emerging trends that are waiting for us just around the corner.
Wedding trends are constantly shifting though the traditional ‘I do’s’ have stayed the same. Although they take the same shape and form, each wedding I have witnessed as a wedding planner has been incredibly unique in terms of styling which guides how these new trends appear. As my wedding planning for 2020 has already been in the works for a couple of months, I have been watching to see what new trends are emerging across the industry.
Styling trends become quite obvious quite quickly as they are pinned and posted all over Pinterest. We have seen a surge over the last two years from colourful florals to fresh greenery, but this is shifting again to oversized, hanging, delicate floral designs like baby’s breath. Taking that overly luscious element from the picture, venue styling is changing shape where the decorative elements are there to tantalise guests and play with texture in a way we haven’t seen before.
Industrial-feel venues have increased in popularity over the last five years, but we are seeing more creativity at play in these spaces than ever. Lightspace has become one of our favourite venues for both the ceremony and reception as it is a totally blank canvas providing only that warehouse industrial aesthetic. Styling these spaces has shifted from playing up the darker, more grunge aspects of the build through hard timber furniture and minimal florals, to playing down each textural element, highlighting the juxtaposition between the strong build and those more delicate styling elements.
The venues trending in 2020 here in Brisbane have emerged quickly as our couples are eager to have their celebrations booked into new spaces like Howard Smith Wharves, The Calile Hotel and Loyal Hope of the Valley.
As the minutes tick by taking us ever closer to 2020, exploring these budding trends brings a new sense of excitement to those wedding planning projects on the go. We are excited to see what new trends arise heading into the new year.
