BEHIND THE SCENES – W+W AT WORK
People often ask us what goes on behind the scenes at white+white. What does a wedding and event planner do? How are styling and design concepts created?
Last year we were privileged to plan and style Lauren and James’ epic engagement party. It was a spectacularly fun and festive party full of bright colours and stunning design elements. Here is a behind the scenes look into how we created the party to end all parties.
Inspiration comes from all sorts of places, but we love it when couples come to us with an image, several images or a theme that they absolutely love. Often we take our inspiration from the couple themselves, what they love or a shared interest they have.
In this case, we created the main design element around the bride-to-be, Lauren Diamond. Using her last name as the central motif, the ‘diamond’ shape became the brand identity that we used throughout the event, or in other words – the ‘couple branding’. We featured this brand on stationery items, cupcake toppers, in the light projection on the pool bridge, cocktail sticks, custom made napkins, all signage used on the day and decals on the bar fascia and green wall.
The vibrant colour palette and custom made geometric diamond lights were the signature items in the styling concept. Collaborating with our amazing florist, Stem Design, we embellished these design elements with an abundance of magnificent florals – hanging installations, a green wall and two opulent floating arrangements on the pool.
The ‘zone’ concept we adopted enhanced the playful nature of the party, and allowed partygoers to move throughout the space and interact with it much like a festival would. We positioned mouth watering food stations throughout both the indoor and outdoor zones for guest feasting wherever they were.
The Cocktail Courtyard
A fabulous space for guests to mingle, chat and engage – featuring a chic white lounge setting, bright wicker bar furniture, florals in vases, pillar candles and the stunning hexagonal box dessert bar installation.
The Main Bar
An all white round bar – serving both as an indoor and outdoor bar in the round, allowing guests to enjoy beverages from wherever they were positioned in the venue.
The Tiki Bar
A feature zone – serving a new cocktail every hour, this space was a hive of energy and excitement – featuring a stunning high green wall and large diamond brand sign this space provided all the cocktails of the night.
The Dance Space
The dance zone – featuring styling masterpieces created for the event, the diamond geometric lights with exposed lightbulbs. These lights provided a spectacular visual feast for the eyes, dripping with jungle foliage and bright blooms.
We absolutely loved creating this event. Find our more about how we can create your next amazing event or wedding here.
